Green Bay Packers wide receiver Devante Adams will now be a household name in fantasy football circles.

Jordy Nelson is out for the season with a torn ACL, meaning that top ranked fantasy football quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ top receiver is now on the sidelines. Adams, who mustered 38 catches for 446 yards and three touchdowns during his rookie campaign in 2014, will shoulder much more of the load now.

Adams was projected to be the No. 3 receiver, while Randall Cobb, who also will see his value skyrocket, was slated as the No. 2. Nelson was a top-five wide receiver in fantasy football drafts. Now, the average draft position as updated Aug. 24, shows Cobb as the eighth drafted wide receiver at 21st overall, while Adams is ranked 45th among receivers, and 124th overall, which in a 12-team league would put him in the 11th round.

Adams should go up in the rankings as more drafts take place, especially since Cobb, who was Green Bay’s second receiver last season, finished as the seventh-best scoring wide receiver last year in fantasy football.

As a draft strategy, this could put more emphasis on drafting wide receivers early, with the loss of one of the NFL’s best. Cobb should be able to step into the top role, giving fantasy football owners a solid No. 1 option from the Packers. Adams is the likely choice as No. 2 for Green Bay and if he stays in the 11th round, he would be a steal.

He likely won’t be available that late in upcoming drafts, so be cautious about taking him too high. He only has one year of experience and may not be the long-term option as the No. 2 for the Packers.
