Oddsshark recently released over/under regular season win totals for National Football League teams.

Here is a look at the Washington Redskins in the NFC East.

Over/under

Oddsshark has Washington at 6.5 regular season wins. Last year, the Redskins were 4-12 in the regular season.

The upside

The offensive line has to be better. The Redskins addressed their offensive line needs in the draft after allowing 58 sacks last year and seeing Alfred Morris regress from the season before.

With a more stable offensive line, the Redskins are hoping Robert Griffin III can mature as the main weapon for the offense. After a spectacular rookie season in 2012, he’s now being rumored to not have the backing of second-year head coach Jay Gruden.

If Griffin III will stay as the Redskins quarterback, this is the year for him to prove himself. And because the Redskins have invested so much money in Griffin III, the coaching staff may bend a little when formulating the best offense.

Defensively, Ryan Kerrigan will be the main force. Kerrigan had a breakout season last season and he will be the main identity with the loss of Brian Orakpo.  There likely will be six new starters on defense, but that shouldn’t be a problem since the defense was so bad last season.

The downside

That defense was terrible last season and the Redskins are taking the approach of replacing all the bad parts. On paper that seems like a good plan. However, without consistency, there’s no way to know if the Redskins will actually be better on defense.

One thing to like about Griffin III is that the hype has been lost, so the expectations are far less than last year or the year before. However, those expectations are so low because Griffin III has been so bad that the coaching staff doesn’t want to work with him.

With those issues, there isn’t likely to be much stability on offense. There is talent on the offensive roster, but if the quarterback and head coach aren’t on the same page, this could be another long season for the Redskins.

to make matters worse, the NFC East with Dallas, Philadelphia and the New York Giants should be better this season. The Redskins will have to play all three times twice, and there might not be an instance where the Redskins would be a favorite.

The verdict

It’s been a cluster in Washington during the last two years.

That likely won’t change this season. RGIII has plenty of talent and the roster shouldn’t be too bad. However, with the problems that seem to exist between RGIII and the coaching staff, this is a marriage that likely won’t end well.

Don’t expect the Redskins to win more than six games this season, which will likely end the run of their coach or quarterback.
