With the playoffs looming, fantasy teams are looking to solidify their lineups. This time of year may actually be the most important time for waiver wire additions, especially with all the running backs and other players fighting the injury bug.

Here’s the top adds for the week 13 waiver wire in season-long fantasy football.

David Johnson, Running Back, Arizona Cardinals

Johnson was likely one of the hottest items on the waiver wire earlier this season when he went on a tear with touchdowns in four of his first five games.

Then, with a limited number of touches, his fantasy value went down, and was likely dropped by many fantasy football owners.

Now, with Andre Ellington and Chris Johnson out with injuries, David Johnson will man the number one role for the Cardinals this week against the Rams. St. Louis isn’t a great team to play against for running backs, but David Johnson has a nose for the endzone, which would provide quality points for any fantasy football owner.

We wouldn’t be surprised if he got more than 20 touches this week, so if he’s on the waiver wire, he’s worth an add.

Shaun Draughn, Running Back, San Francisco 49ers

Draughn hasn’t done much to warrant a place on fantasy football rosters, but his sheer amount of volume is a reason to give him an add.

Draughn is pretty much the only running back option in San Francisco now, as he was the only running back who carried the ball last week against Arizona.

Being pretty much the lone option is enough reason to pick him up on the waiver wire. He hasn’t gotten to double-digits yet, but it’s only a matter of time if he continues to dominate the carries for the 49ers.

Scott Chandler, Tight End, New England Patriots

With Rob Gronkowski injured, Chandler will be the next man up for the Patriots. That’s a common theme for New England this year, and with all the injuries at the wide receiver position, Chandler will likely receive several targets against a worsening Philadelphia pass defense.

Chandler has seen increased playing time in recent weeks and saw a team-high 11 targets last week against Denver. That’s a good sign for fantasy owners looking for either a replacement for Gronk or to strengthen their tight-end position.

Spencer Ware, Running Back, Kansas City Chiefs

We’re not sure if Ware will play much this week against Oakland with Charcandrick West likely to return, but that still shouldn’t stop you from picking him up on your fantasy football team.

Ware has rushed for more than 200 yards in two games since West’s absence. That could provide an opportunity for split time this week against a bad Oakland defense.

Even if Ware doesn’t get many carries this week, he’s still worth an add based on his ability to produce in the lead-back role. Ware would be a quality player on fantasy football benches just in case West got injured again.

DeVante Parker, Wide Receiver, Miami Dolphins

Parker is likely another one of those players who was drafted and held on to for awhile, before being dumped to the waiver wire.

Now, Parker is showing some signs of life, and the Dolphins will likely try anything at this point.

Parker tallied a career-high 10 targets last week against the New York Jets with Rishard Matthews injured. It doesn’t appear that Matthews will return this week, so we’d be willing to be that Parker has an expanded role again this week.
