Now’s the time to pick up those handcuffs who you’ve ignored for the first eight weeks of the NFL season.

As you’ll see for this week’s best waiver wire adds, those handcuffs would have come in handy right about now.

DeAngelo Williams, Running Back, Pittsburgh Steelers

Remember weeks 1 and 2 this season when Williams was a quality running back in fantasy football? We do, and likely so do those fantasy owners who kept him as a handcuff for Le’Veon Bell.

But it doesn’t appear that many owners kept him for the long haul.

Now’s your chance to pick him up as a steal for your fantasy team. In weeks 1 and 2, he tallied 13 and 27 points respectively as the featured running back. Last week, he reached double-digits when Bell went down with an injury.

The Steelers have talented weapons all over the field and we’re thinking Williams will be another solid option for Ben Roethlisberger. Williams is by far the best add off the waiver wire.

Jeremy Langford, Running Back, Chicago Bears

Starting running back Matt Forte isn’t likely to miss the entire season, but he will miss some time for the Bears.

That opens up the possibility for the rookie. Langford filled in nicely last week for Forte when he went down with injury. Langford netted career highs in touches and yards.

That will continue as the featured back. The Bears will run the ball and utilize the passing game with the running back. That’s important to note for Langford owners, since he should have plenty of cracks at scoring fantasy football points.

If you’re not one of the first owners on the waiver wire, you likely won’t get Langford.

Ben Watson, Tight End, New Orleans Saints

Maybe we’re a little slow to the Watson party, but we hadn’t seen Watson perform like this in the past.

But the Saints are using him more and more in the passing game. He has more than 100 yards receiving in two of the past three games and it appears Drew Brees is finding the fountain of youth. We thought Brees had started to slide downward, but he’s been rejuvenated since the win against the Atlanta Falcons.

Watson continues to see a large number of targets come his way and we don’t see that going away. The Saints rely on the tight end position, especially in the end zone, and Watson has found the end zone in three of four games.

David Carr, Quarterback, Oakland Raiders

There’s not many quarterbacks who would be a better option than Carr.

Carr has gone over 20 points in four of seven games this season. The Raiders continue to look like they’re improving, especially on the offensive end. And the defense is so bad that it forces the offense to be on the field plenty, giving Carr numerous opportunities to score fantasy football points.

Teams can’t go wrong with Carr as a backup. He’s becoming a more reliable option on a weekly basis and we only see him improving as the season progresses.

Kamar Aiken, Wide Receiver, Baltimore Ravens

With Steve Smith Sr. out with injury, Aiken’s role is about expand. And it’s not as if he hasn’t been a quality option already this season.

He’s consistently in the high single digits and without Smith, we believe Joe Flacco will direct more attention to Aiken. Last week, Aiken caught a team-high six catches against the San Diego Chargers. Don’t expect days with only six catches. We anticipate more balls will go his way.

Aiken isn’t owned in many fantasy football leagues, so jump on him now, before it’s too late.
