It was a .500 week overall and my underdogs let me down in my week 8 college football picks. There was bound to be some regression after having a perfect day in week 7.

I’ve been on point for the majority of the college football season, so I anticipate to get back over .500 once again in week 9. Here’s the week 9 college football picks featuring three underdogs that will cover the spread.

Overall: 32-16 ATS

Underdogs: 16-8 ATS

Louisville at Wake Forest (+3)

The Demon Deacons did what they could to stick with a high-powered Georgia Tech team in week 8. In the end, it wasn’t enough.

This week actually offers a better opportunity for that defensive front to wreak havoc. Even with a rough outing in week 8 against Georgia Tech, the Demon Deacons still have a top-50 defense in college football. In four games against top-50 defenses, the Cardinals are 2-2 and have scored less points in those games than each of the other four games.

So expect a lower scoring affair than many anticipate, giving Wake Forest the advantage. The offense wasn’t bad last week with the return of Riley Skinner. The Cardinals are having to travel in back-to-back weeks and this game should mean more to Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons should ride that motivation to a straight up win. — Go Against The Chalk with Wake Forest

Penn State should be a solid bet as one of the week 9 college football picks. Flickr

Penn State (+6) at Ohio State

Everybody’s in love with Ohio State. The Buckeyes have dominated the competition since losing at home to Oklahoma in week 2. But should we really be that impressed with those wins?

The only real competitor during this five-game streak is Maryland, which was adjusting to its third-string quarterback at the time of the loss. The Buckeyes haven’t beaten anybody this season. So why are we falling in love with Ohio State?

There’s still some real question marks in that secondary and the Nittany Lions are battle-tested with an offensive unit that can match up against any team in the nation.

Ohio State hasn’t faced anybody at this caliber yet this season. I’m not sold on this recent winning streak and Penn State should come into this matchup with a chip on their shoulder. There’s no reason why this game should be near a touchdown spread. — Go Against The Chalk with Penn State

Georgia vs. Florida (+14.5)

Everybody is down on the Gators. That’s why I like them in this spot.

Georgia is really good. But are they good enough to be a no-brainer in this situation? I doubt it.

Florida is coming off some close losses, but overall, they’ve still been far above-average on defense. So there’s no reason to believe the Gators can’t keep this close with a solid defensive effort.

This is a gut-check game for the Gators. Don’t be surprised if this is within one possession in the fourth quarter. — Go Against The Chalk with Florida
