We dominated through the college football betting guides last week. It’s too bad that those efforts didn’t translate to our Lockness Monsters.

We went 7-1 against the spread last week in the major conferences. We’re looking for that to continue this week as we eye the Big 12. The league’s week kicks off Thursday with Kansas State vs. Baylor and will finish Saturday.

Most of the games should be yawners, except for the big game featuring TCU at Oklahoma State. For what we think on that game, check out our week 10 Lockness Monsters.

Here are two games we’ll keep an eye on this weekend. Last week’s betting guide for each major conference went 7-1, with a 2-0 mark in the Big 12. Overall for the season, the betting guides have been 9-9 in the Big 12 and 47-39 overall in the power-five conferences.

Texas Tech at West Virginia (-8)

We have lost all confidence in Texas Tech stopping anyone. Sure, we like Oklahoma State a lot. But we don’t like them for 70 points on the road.

The Red Raiders have lost all ability to stop teams and the Mountaineers should be able to slow down Texas Tech’s offensive attack. We’re giving away a lot of points in this one, but it’s worth it.

You may be calling us crazy, considering West Virginia’s record. The Mountaineers have fallen on hard times, losing four games in a row. But those four games have been to teams with one combined loss.

West Virginia has shown an ability to compete for awhile against those teams, until faltering in the end. That won’t happen in this game.

Baylor at Kansas State (+17.5)

This won’t win many gamblers out there, but we’re not incredibly sure why we like Kansas State so much in this game.

For one, Baylor has done well recently against the Wildcats. Baylor hasn’t lost to Kansas State since 2011. And the Wildcats have fallen on hard times, similar to West Virginia. Kansas State looked awful against Texas in its latest loss, so we may be crazy with this pick.

But there’s just something about this game…on a Thursday night…that has us liking the Wildcats. Baylor is adjusting to a new quarterback and although the Bears have beaten Kansas State recently, the games have been close.

The Wildcats play a different type of style, and although that offense hasn’t been very proficient, it still could give Baylor trouble this week.

Look for Kansas State to put up a fight at home against the Bears and this will be closer than the experts think. — Go against the chalk with Kansas State
