If the spreads are any indication of what will happen this week in the SEC, we may be in for a blowout weekend.

Only three of the seven scheduled games have spreads in single digits, and those aren’t field-goal spreads. The smallest spread is the LSU at Alabama game where the Crimson Tide are six-points favorites. We have a sneaking suspicion that games will be closer, so it’s a matter of finding the best bets. We already staked our claim to the South Carolina at Tennessee and Arkansas at Mississippi games in our week 10 Lockness Monsters, but we are looking at other SEC games, too.

Here are two games we’ll keep an eye on this weekend. Last week’s betting guide for each major conference went 7-1. Overall for the season, the betting guides have been 7-9 in the SEC and 47-39 overall in the power-five conferences.

Kentucky (+14) at Georgia

Something’s wrong in Georgia. The offense doesn’t move the ball consistently and it seems like the players aren’t following the direction of the coaches.

We understand that the Bulldogs are returning home, but we haven’t seen enough from Georgia to prove that anything will be different at home.

Since the beginning of October, we haven’t seen anything from the Bulldogs. Georgia is 1-3 straight up and 0-4 against the spread in the last four games. Kentucky hasn’t been much better, but we trust the Wildcats’ motivation at this juncture of the season.

The defense failed last week against Tennessee, but the Wildcats won’t play an offense like that this week. Oddsmakers are giving away too many points in this one. We’re taking the points. — Go against the chalk with Kentucky

Auburn (+7) at Texas A&M

We’re not sure what the media’s infatuation is with the Aggies, but the national pundits sure love Texas A&M.

Since going 5-0 and squaring off against Alabama, the Aggies haven’t done much to impress. The Aggies are 0-3 against the spread and 1-2 straight up. Texas A&M looked terrible in the last three weeks and despite beating a bad South Carolina team last week, Texas A&M did little to impress.

So we’re wondering why the opening line was 8.5 points. The betting public has bet that down and we like the Tigers getting a touchdown. Auburn has competed well in the last two weeks, while going 0-2. We believe the Tigers will put up a solid fight and this game will be within one possession. — Go against the chalk with Auburn
