The National Football League’s decision to suspend Tom Brady isn’t only affecting the New England Patriots and its fans.
Bettors, who couldn’t wait to put money on the Patriots when opening lines were recently released, are now feeling the brunt of Brady’s four-game suspension.
When the lines were released last month, the defending Super Bowl champion Patriots opened as a 6.5-point favorite against the Pittsburgh Steelers in week 1.
Now, according to Oddshark.com, the Patriots are a 1-point favorite and even money at multiple sports books. Some books have removed the line completely.
The over/under also took a dive, going from 54.5 to 48.5 at some books.
Barring a successful appeal, the Patriots will likely trot out backup Jimmy Garoppolo, who has attempted 27 career passes.
